The Midwest Reliability Organization Board of Directors is a hybrid board with four independent directors, two regional directors, and seventeen stakeholder directors. The independent and regional directors are elected by all voting members, and the stakeholder directors are elected by the members of seven industry sectors. The stakeholder positions are balanced in a way that assures regional reliability interests are equally represented--no two sectors can control a vote. This governance structure is permitted under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 for Regional Entities operating under delegated authority from the Electric Reliability Organization.
