Position Summary
The Manager of Reliability Assessments is responsible for leading all reliability assessments and analysis for the MRO Region. This includes assessments with North American Reliability Corporation (NERC) and the Eastern Interconnection Reliability Assessment Group (ERAG). This role also requires presentations to MRO councils and subgroups as well as NERC Subcommittees, Working Groups, Task Forces and state and provincial regulators as needed. The position is a member of MRO’s leadership team and has the responsibility for identifying issues and proposing solutions that impact the workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages, mentors, and motivates the Reliability Analysis staff to ensure the execution of departmental activities in a manner that is rigorous, non-discriminatory, adequately documented, and appropriately coordinated with NERC to ensure a high level of effectiveness and efficiency is maintained
- Regularly represents and maintains intentional and productive relationships with the Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) Enterprise, registered entities, and regulators
- Contributes to the identification and execution of MRO’s strategic objectives, department goals, and the development and management of the Reliability Analysis department’s staff and budget
- Presents on behalf of MRO to NERC Committees and MRO Organizational Groups as needed
- Oversees all MRO assessment work and analysis
- Ensures timely knowledge by staying adequately abreast of changing technologies related to the reliability of the Bulk Power System (BPS) to help ensure that MRO maintains a consistent risk- based approach and application
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required with an emphasis in power system engineering being preferred
- A minimum of ten years of relevant power system experience is required
- Professional Engineer License is desired
- Advanced experience and working knowledge of electric utility operations and planning is essential
- Basic knowledge of engineering software such as power system simulation tools is desired
- Ability to assess and execute a wide range of complex electrical power system analysis reports and investigations concerning the operation and planning of generation and transmission systems
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to provide clear comprehensive reports and present findings and recommendations to a diverse audience is required
Supervisor Responsibility
- The Manager of Reliability Assessments supervises a team of engineers.
Physical Working Conditions and Travel Requirements
- Standard office environment, requires mobility and sedentary work
- Must be available outside of business hours to respond to employee and/or corporate matters
- Travel Requirement: Approximately 20%; this position requires the ability to obtain documentation to allow for travel to and from Canada Job Description Acknowledgement
Pay Range
$151,3000 – $201,700
