Notice of Nomination Period for Open Protective Relay Subgroup Seats

Saint Paul, Mn. Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) would like to notify its members of two open positions on the Protective Relay Subgroup (PRS). The PRS will be opening nominations for one seat with a term that will expire on December 31, 2025, and one seat with a term that will expire on December 31, 2027. Subgroup members must be employees of MRO members and meet the qualifications outlined in the PRS Charter and Policy and Procedure 3: Establishment, Responsibilities, and Procedures of Organizational Groups and MRO Sponsored Representatives on NERC Organizational Groups.

The purpose of the MRO PRS is to identify, review and discuss system protection and control issues relevant to the reliability of the bulk electric system and to develop and implement regional procedures for applicable NERC PRC standards. Key objectives include:

  • Implement regional procedures that address the requirements of NERC PRC Standards.
  • Review the MRO misoperations to identify and communicate lessons learned.
  • Trend event analysis reports to identify misoperations causing the events.
  • Identify methods to reduce the likelihood or severity of system events or misoperations.
  • Provide technical input related to system protection and control to MRO.

The PRS meets quarterly and travel expenses are reimbursed by the MRO according to Policy & Procedure 2: Expense Reimbursement
